Barbra Streisand's Oscars 2013 Performance: "The Way We Were" During the In Memoriam Segment

Barbra Streisand made her return to the Oscars stage with a touching rememberance of a dear friend.

Following the In Memoriam motage, which concluded with composer Marvin Hamlisch, Barbra took to the stage dressed in a black and gold gown with some severe talon nails: "Marvin Hamlisch was a composer of extraordinary depth and versatility," she said. "He was also a very kind and generous friend who could always make me laugh."

She continued, "Over the years, we shared many adventures together. Marvin left us way too soon, but I'll always have those wonderful, wonderful memories." She then launched into "The Way We Were," a song she collaborated on with Hamlisch.

The Official Chris Botti Site The Official Chris Botti Site Buy The New Album "Impressions" Available Now! On Tour Now Botti spotlights eclecticism Written by Ashley Polasek Contributing Writer, GreenvilleOnline.com When Chris Botti and guest vocalist Renee Olstead found themselves working through kinks in “The Very Thought of You,” a song they were performing together for the first time at their Peace Center concert Friday night, he quipped “this is really jazz.” In a concert that ranged from Chopin to Michael Jackson, trumpeter Botti’s melodic jazz style and his keen improvisational skills were at their best from his first note. From The New York Times review of Barbra Streisand in New York. "One of the evening’s most glorious moments joined Irving Berlin’s 'What’ll I Do?' and Rodgers and Hart’s 'My Funny Valentine' in a duet by Ms. Streisand and her special guest, the pop-jazz trumpeter Chris Botti. His silvery tone and trailing phrases, combined with the orchestra, infused both songs with an aching film-noir melancholy." - Stephen Holden, The New York Times Featured Photo Feat

Advanced Search - oscar tie Advanced Search Oscars 2013: A tie for the sixth time in Oscar history Daniel Craig as James Bond in "Skyfall." ( Francois Duhamel / Columbia Pictures ) When Mark Wahlberg announced there was a tie in the category of sound editing, he had to first convince the crowd that it was not a joke or a continuation of the bit he was doing on the Oscar telecast with his animated co-star from the movie "Ted." But indeed, for only the sixth time in the history of the Academy Awards, the same prize went to more than one winner: Paul N.J. Ottosson for “Zero Dark Thirty” and Per Hallberg and Karen Baker Landers for “Skyfall.” The most famous tie in Oscar history would likely be when the lead actress Oscar went to both Katharine Hepburn for “The Lion in Winter” and Barbra Streisand for “Funny Girl” in 1968. Another Oscar tie was between Frederic March for “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” and Wallace Beery for “The Champ” in the category of lead actor. Twice there have been ties in the short film categories, and the feature documentary category had a tie in 1986 with “Artie Shaw
